Brewery Tour and Lincoln

The first weekend of June we went to the Bateman & Sons brewery in Wainfleet All Saints, which is North East of Ashby de la Zouch, pretty close to the coast. It is a small brewery, about the size of the Marin Brewing Co, but it has been around since 1874. We had a nice lunch and a pint, then went on the tour and had another pint.

We left the brewery and then headed east towards Skegness which is on the coast. It was foggy and the town reminded us a bit of Pacifica (or was it just the fog). This area is a big summer vacation spot for the English and there is a big amusement park/camp site/summer cottages thing going on.

Just like home!!

We headed north along the coast and spent the night at a pub (The Lincolnshire Poacher) in Louth, which is a nice little town. The next day we headed back and stopped in Lincoln for about 4 hours. There is an excellent cathedral in Lincoln and the area around the cathedral and the castle is really nice. The cathedral is definitely on par with York Minster and Notre Dame.

Kari and I both really liked Lincoln. If we move from Ashby we think we would try to make a go of it in Lincoln.
