This past Tuesday, we went to a village just outside of Melton Mowbray to shoot longbows again.
The archery club that put on the demonstration we went to at Belton House a few weeks ago has a practice session every Tuesday night. At the demonstration, we picked up a flier that had information about the club and the practice.
It was held in a sports club building, only about 30 yards long. They set up the hay targets at one end with a big net behind them. The shooters stood at the opposite end. There were about 4 people at a time shooting, and we would each shoot 4 arrows. Then the next group would have their turns. Once each group had gone, we'd all go and collect the arrows and start again. Kevin was going to volunteer to catch the arrows, but they politely told him that it was unnecessary.
We spent quite a bit of time talking to the leader of the club. He gave us all kinds of information about the bows and other equipment, as well as the history of the club. We learned a few things, which was cool. We may go back next week--we'll see how it goes. It's about 45 minutes from home, so it's a hike. But it was really fun.
And I got another bulls-eye... :-)
