The Election

**Disclaimer - I do not intend to imply that everyone who votes Republican is an idiot. I know several Republicans who are okay by me. This post refers to the idiots who vote Republican. Just want to make that distinction upfront.

Talking to people here in Antibes, French and expats, they seem to be pulling for Obama in our November Election. In fact, since we have been here, I haven't spoken to anyone who has said outright that they like George W (although there have been a few who have said they don't like George W.

The Euros think Obama is going to win, and a few have implied that if he doesn't, it is because of racism. I tell them, while that might affect some voters, I don't think the election is going to won or lost based upon race. George W won two elections against Gore and Kerry, where the candidates race was not an issue. I think that there are quite a few voters who, for one reason or another, will vote for the guy who is not as polished or refined as the other. What I mean to say, is that if one candidate only uses (or knows) smaller words, there are a lot of people who will vote for that guy.

Me personally, I have always preferred working for someone who is smarter than me, someone who has an idea of what's going on, and that translates into who I vote for also. That's just me.

Anyways, I tell the Euros, that it is going to be a close Election and I have no idea who is going to win (which they don't understand and honestly, I don't either).

I will say this though. Whoever wins, I don't envy him.
