Kevin's cousin Bridget is married to Jeremy. Jeremy rides motocross and has done so since he was a boy. He invited us out to his race on Sunday, April 15 at a track near the town of Polesworth. It was only about 15 minutes away from where we were staying.
We drove out there about 11:00 in the morning, taking some of the country roads to get there. We almost got lost twice, but made it in one piece. The track was in this amazing valley, overlooking a canal and the town nearby. It was perfect for spectating...the track was on one side of the hill. Opposite was another hill that overlooked the track. So you could easily see almost the entire track from where everyone sat.
It was a fantastic day. Clear and sunny and warm. There were about 21 races that day. They had broken up the field into 7 classes, and each class raced three times. We watched two of Jeremy's races. The funny thing about Jeremy riding motocross is that he's 6'7" tall, and when he gets on the bike, his knees come way up to near his arms. Like his bike is just a bit too small for him.He did well that day, placing 10th in the second race.
After the race, we went over to Bridget and Jeremy's house for dinner. They live in this fantastic 16th century timber-framed farmhouse. It's sort of funny again because the doors are under 6' in height, and Jeremy has to duck through all the doorways. Their son Harry is over 6' tall also, and he has to duck. It was a nice evening--we really enjoy hanging out with them.
