France update

A quick update on the status of the relocation...

It looks like my start date is December 3rd. I've gotten the official offer paperwork and have to send that back in the next few days so everything is signed and sealed.

We've been put in touch with the company that will help us find a place to live and set up our utilities, banking, etc. (thank goodness! I was having nightmares about trying to set stuff up in my extremely basic French!) The company is putting us up in accommodation (either a hotel or short-term apartment) for up to 4 weeks, while we hunt for our own place.

We're tentatively scheduled to go down there on November 20, which will give us some time to start the apartment hunt and get acclimated a bit before I have to go to work. On this end, they've sent 3 moving companies to give estimates on how much it will cost to move our stuff. The company will choose one of them--we have no say in the decision. But, at least we don't have to figure out how to move it ourselves.

My last day of work is October 31--yay! Primarily because it's easier for payroll purposes. Since I'm only paid once a month, if I worked to Friday 2 November, I'd have to wait until December to get my check for those two days. Plus, it gives us some time to get ourselves out of the flat here.

Watch this space for more info!
