Lunch in Italy

We had the Monday after Easter off as a national holiday. A co-worker of mine asked me on the Friday before if Kev and I "fancied lunch in Italy on Monday." Ummmm...let me think for about 10 milliseconds...YES!

So they picked us up just after 11am and we went to Arma di Taggia, which is about an hour's drive from where we live. It's just on the other side of San Remo on the coast. It was actually our first "official" trip to Italy also. (I changed planes in the Milan airport about 10 years ago, but that doesn't count.)

The town itself isn't much to look at, but the restaurant where we had lunch was really good. It was a modern place and really big. Loud, too, and we had to shout to be heard once the place got going. For a 3-course meal and wine, it was very reasonably-priced as well. There were 6 of us all together, and it was a nice, relaxed lunch.

After lunch, we walked out to the sea. It was cloudy and cold, but it's always nice to be near the water. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of planning controls on property near the beach. There were these horrible high-rise buildings that just looked wrong. And the beach was pretty dirty. We were wondering if the cleaning crews would come out before the season starts...

We arrived back home just after 5pm, full, warm, and fuzzy from the wine. A nice way to spend a day off.
