It had been suggested to us that we visit the town of Gourdon, which is about a 30-minute drive away, so that was our first destination. It is this cute medieval village perched on a rocky outcropping. Cliffs everywhere! It had a nice ambiance and you can tell the village has been there forever. Since the 13th century!

It's interesting to travel into the mountains from where we live because first of all, they're not very far away. And secondly, the entire place is one giant rock. The rock changes color and texture depending on where you are, but it's solid rock and scrubby trees. And then every now and again, you get a pine forest. The landscape goes from bare to forested in a few kilometres.
And the views are endless! Unfortunately, there was a mist in the distance that weekend, so it wasn't as clear as we'd have liked. But still it was nice to see what we did.
The background of vistas!
As we drove around over the 2 days, we went through lots of these villages on the cliffs. We also discovered loads of hiking trails, which we plan to go back to in a few weeks.
