It is HOT, HOT, HOT here. Wow. They weren't kidding when they said that it gets hot here in the high summer. It started heating up in the middle of July. It has been somewhere in the 90's everyday. That is too hot for Pacifica folks.
And it's not just the heat, there is enough humidity in the air to make it uncomfortable. (it's not quite midwest or east coast humid, but it's way more than we're used to!) So we are sweating all the time. The flat doesn't get too bad during the day, now that we know what windows to close and leave open during the day. But at dusk the mosquitoes come out. Then when it gets dark, and it cools down a bit outside, our flat seems to warm up. That is the drawback to concrete construction, which is what all the flats are made of (except the really old ones, which are made of stone). Thank goodness we have a couple of fans to circulate the air at least...
What everyone is telling us is that around the middle of August, beginning of September, the humidity and temperatures will peak. Then there will a few days of thunderstorms, which break the humidity and lower the temperature a touch. Then the weather is supposed to be lovely through the fall. Hopefully, we can last...
