July 4th in Cannes...redux

For the second year in a row, we randomly ended up in Cannes on the 4th of July. This time, however, we had a picnic on the beach and then went to a nearby pub to hear live music.

At the beach

We met up with our friend Stefano, who lives in Cannes, and went to a public beach nearby for our picnic dinner. Unfortunately, not a barbecue in sight, but our sandwiches and Pringles did the trick.

...as well as some beer and wine!

As we were sitting there eating, a marching band came walking down the promenade. Turns out, it was a wedding party! The bride and groom were leading a big group of people and dancing all the way down the street.

So fantastic!

Just before it got dark, these two American guys from Washington DC showed up on the beach with some sparklers, so we sort of saw some "fireworks".

Our fellow Americans

We met up with our other friend, Mike, at the pub and hung out until closing time. And, in celebration of the holiday, Kevin even provided us with his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
